Let’s start with you. Can you introduce yourself and share a bit about your current role as a Payment Operations Analyst I?
My name is Mariellis Ferrer, and I work in Bank Operations as a Payment Operations Analyst I. In my role, I partner closely with leadership to ensure our processes remain compliant while also identifying opportunities for improvement that benefit both the team and our overall operations.
A big part of my work involves collaborating with our Quality team to make sure we are processing transactions accurately and following the correct procedures, all while supporting our department goals and maintaining a high level of service. I also review customer survey feedback, analyze individual cases, and provide follow-up or coaching when needed to help drive continuous improvement.
My day-to-day responsibilities include supporting a variety of operational workflows, maintaining documentation, assisting with escalations, and contributing to projects that help the organization work more efficiently. Overall, my focus is on delivering accuracy, supporting team success, and helping drive positive outcomes across the organization.
You’ve been with the company for 8 years (wow!). Walk us through your career journey.
It’s been an amazing journey! I started as an Associate, and after my first year, I was promoted to Senior. About two years later, I stepped into a Lead role, where I spent around four years growing my leadership skills and supporting the team in a bigger way. Most recently, I transitioned into my current role as a Payment Operations Analyst I, which I’ve been in for almost a year now.
Before joining Alegeus, I also brought about 15 years of banking experience, including work in sales and business fraud. That background has really helped shape how I approach my work today, especially when it comes to accuracy, compliance, and understanding risk.
Overall, my journey has been all about growth, learning new things, and taking on new challenges—and I’m excited to keep building on that.
From your perspective, how has the Payment Operations function evolved during your time here, and what excites you most about where it’s headed?
Wow… There has been a tremendous amount of growth and evolution during my time here. When I first joined, the team was much smaller, and many processes were more manual than they are today. As the business expanded, so did our team, our capabilities, and the way we approached our work.
Over the years, we’ve continued to enhance our processes, improve collaboration across teams, and embrace new technologies that help us work more efficiently and effectively. We’ve also expanded our global partnerships, creating opportunities to learn from one another and better support the needs of the business.
What excites me most is our commitment to continuous improvement. There is always a focus on finding better ways to serve our customers, support our teams, and adapt to new opportunities. It’s rewarding to be part of an organization that is always looking ahead and investing in innovation and growth.
Thinking about your day-to-day work, what’s one accomplishment or contribution you’re especially proud of that others might not see?
One thing I’m proud of is always looking for ways to bring the team to the next level, whether that’s through new ideas, process improvements, or initiatives.
One example is our “Did You Know?” segment, which highlights important topics and encourages employees to share their expertise with others. As part of that initiative, I created a structured agenda for our weekly huddles and collaborated with managers globally to identify subject matter experts to lead presentations on key topics. I meet with each presenter beforehand to review content, answer questions, and provide feedback so they feel confident and prepared. The goal is to encourage knowledge sharing, give team members valuable presentation experience, and increase visibility into the processes and work happening across the organization.
After 8 years, what continues to inspire you to stay and grow your career here?
What continues to inspire me the most is a combination of the company’s core values, the people, the culture, and the opportunities for growth.
The core values really guide how we work every day. They’re not just words, but something you can actually see in action across teams. The people I work with also make a huge difference. I’ve had the chance to work with supportive leaders and teammates who are always willing to help, collaborate, and push each other to do better.
I also truly appreciate the culture. It’s an environment where ideas are welcomed, and where you’re encouraged to grow, take on new challenges, and bring something new to the table. That’s been really important to me, especially as I’ve moved through different roles over the years.
Finally, the opportunities here continue to motivate me. Whether it’s taking on new responsibilities, being part of process improvements, or working on initiatives like automation and AI, I feel like I’m constantly learning and evolving. That’s what keeps me excited about what’s next and motivates me to keep growing with the company.
Outside of work, what are some hobbies or interests that help you recharge and bring balance to your life?
Outside of work, I love spending time with my kids. That’s one of the biggest ways I recharge and stay balanced. We’re actually Disney annual passholders, so we go pretty often, sometimes just to walk around, have fun for a few hours at night, or honestly even just find an excuse to grab something good to eat!
I also enjoy watching Netflix, especially shows with a good plot twist. It’s a great way for me to unwind and disconnect after a busy day. For me, it’s all about enjoying those simple, fun moments with my family and finding time to relax and reset.
