Exploring Synthetic Identity Fraud
Published on August 1st, 2018
As the final webinar of our fraud and security series with Mastercard, we will explore one of the latest emerging threats – synthetic identities. Unlike traditional third-party fraud, synthetic identity fraud does not have a clear victim. This type of fraud leverages a fictitious identity by manipulating a combination of real and fabricated information in order to build a background that is indistinguishable from that of a real person. As a result, the structure of this fraud makes it extremely difficult to detect and protect against.
Join Alegeus and John Brady, U.S. Region Head of Customer Fraud Management for Mastercard Worldwide, to discuss the background of this crime, past and current examples, and what is currently being done to protect businesses from falling victim to synthetic identity fraud.
